at Boston University is pleased to announce their new homepage and
the release of their MPEG-I
system level encoder-decoder for Unix systems. Binary versions of
the player are available for SunOS4.1.1,
Indy-Irix5.2
and Linux
systems. The encoder takes existing MPEG-I audio and video streams and
interleaves them into a single system layer stream (video with audio).
The player atempts to playout these streams in realtime. The encoder
supports up to 16 video streams interleaved with up to 32 stereo audio
streams. More documentation is available with the distribution.

exploits the display-independent nature of electronic information to orally
render technical documents marked up in LaTeX. You can experience an interactive

examples rendered in audio by AsTeR and in Postscript by LaTeX/DVIPS. It

Bonneville : The Perseus
Project announces its World Wide Web Home
Page. Perseus is an award-winning multimedia academic database on
the Classical Greek World: it includes approximately 30 megabytes of text
in Greek (plus English translations, a Greek-English lexicon, and various
tools for dealing with the texts), an Atlas with several map themes,
detailed catalogue entries for 1421 vases, 366 sculptures and sculptural
groups, 524 coins, 384 buildings, and 179 sites, with approximately 20,000
images. Perseus 2.0 should be released on four Macintosh CD-ROMs by
spring. The Perseus WWW pages contain information about Perseus, links to
related WWW sites (e.g., that of the Perseus Atlas Project), examples of
Perseus' information, Perseus 1.0 and some Perseus 2.0 documentation, and a

its completely redesigned Web server, HyperDOC, which now includes electronic
access to all of the library's on-line database services (some of which
require registered accounts), an interactive multimedia course on the
history and uses of the Internet, several new multimedia exhibits from
the History of Medicine Division (HMD), and the Web's first large cataloged
image collection, nearly 60,000 images from the HMD prints and photographs
collection, known as On-Line Images

June 10, 1994: Funding has been approved for a Biological Sciences World Wide Web Server
for the California State University system [CSUBIOWEB]. It will
be housed in the Department of Biological Sciences at CSU Stanislaus. Its

Andrew Consortium at Carnegie Mellon University now has
a Web home page. Andrew is a an extensible compound
document system for Unix systems running X windows. It includes:
